It’s time to praise buttercups

It looks like it’s time for my annual post about Creeping Buttercups, or Ranunculus repens.  They  can really take over the place but there are three reasons why I let them:

  1. Lots of pretty yellow flowers.
  2. They make a great free groundcover. In selected areas.
  3. Reason number three, the real reason — bees. Usually I see tiny bees and hover flies, but today I caught a Miner bee foraging in them. I think that’s the first time I’ve see a Miner bee in the flowers and not searching the ground for the next place to build a nest. Hope the buttercups help!
