Ode to asters

Oh, asters, wild asters, beloved of bees.

Honeybee gathering pollen

Honeybee gathering pollen

You tumble down hill and sway on the breeze.

Carpenters browse,

Carpenter bee on astor

Leisurely carpenter bee

And bumblebees hustle,

Bumblebee on aster

Frazzled bumblebee

And tiny green jewels flex tiny bee muscles,

Shiny green sweat bee

Spry green sweat bee

And aster, your bounty of nectar and pollen
Brings honeybees climbing your flowery columns.

Tower of bees on wild aster

Tower of bees on wild aster

We thank you for bringing your lilac – white clouds
And the sunny gold joy of honeybee crowds.
